I built PartyTube – Watch YouTube Together in Real-Time (currently in the building phase)
I've been working on a Chrome extension called PartyTube that lets you watch YouTube with friends who aren't in the same room. The host shares a simple 6-digit code, and no one can join without the host approving them first — a notification pops up so they can Accept or Reject. Once approved, guests see the host's screen streaming live in a new tab, synced in real-time using WebRTC (peer-to-peer, nothing gets routed through a server). Still in the building/testing phase right now, but the core flow is working. Would love feedback if anyone wants to try it out. #Productivity #SaaS #Idea Validation
Looks promising! I like the peer-to-peer approach. Are you planning to support platforms other than YouTube in the future? 👀
@ceosnikus Thank you! 🙌 Honestly right now I'm just trying to get YouTube working smoothly without bugs lol, that's taking most of my focus. But since it's basically screen-sharing under the hood and not something built only for YouTube, stretching it to Netflix, Twitch, or just any tab in general should be pretty straightforward later on. Appreciate you checking it out, will keep posting updates as I go!
I see 🤝
This is dope! Reminds me of watch parties, but the P2P part makes it even better. Count me in to test it out.
