In one retail sales data review, we saw discounts being applied broadly with no standardization. Some products were sitting on the shelf, so they were discounted. Some products already had very low profit margins, but they were also discounted. That is where the leak starts. Sales may still be coming in and out, so it can look like nothing needs to be touched. But if discounting is emotional or reactional, the sales manager may be moving products while quietly reducing the profit left in the business. So we categorized the data into something the team could use: 1. Products that need discounting 2. Products that do not need discounting 3. Rules for how the discount structure should work Because discounting has to be strategic. In some cases, it should not be available at all. At Legacy Data Consultancy, Discount Leakage Detection is about turning transaction patterns into clear rules and recommendations, so the sales manager knows the next right step without depending only on gut feelings. #RetailAnalytics #Profitability #InventoryManagement #DataDrivenDecisions

Really valuable perspective! 💡 Discounts should be driven by data and profitability, not just slow sales. 📊📈
