Privacy Policy

Plain language, no legalese we wouldn't say to your face. Last updated September 2026.

What we collect

Only what's needed to run the platform:

Account details
Name, username, email, and a securely hashed password — we never store your password in plain text.
Profile info you add
Bio, skills, languages, location/country, social links, and your profile photo — all optional, all editable any time.
Activity
Posts, comments, likes, startups, team memberships, and quest/badge progress — the record your rank is built on.
Technical basics
Your IP address and a rough country, used only to suggest relevant content and keep the platform secure.

How we use it

To run your feed, your rank, and your notifications — and nothing beyond that. We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers. The only outside parties involved are the ones keeping the lights on: our hosting provider, and — only if you subscribe to the Verified badge — our payment processor, described below.

Payments & billing (Verified badge only)

If you subscribe to the Verified badge, checkout happens at store.snikus.com, under the name "Nexilant." That's not a separate company — it's Snikus's own checkout and billing brand, kept on its own domain because payment processors require billing to run through a dedicated "digital goods store" presentation, distinct from a social platform's main site. Your account, posts, and everything else stay entirely on snikus.com.

The actual payment — your card details, the charge, your receipt — is handled entirely by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record and the one genuine third party in this flow. Neither Snikus nor Nexilant ever sees or stores your card details.

Cookies & sessions

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. That's it — no ad-tracking cookies, no cross-site trackers. If you have dark mode set, that preference is remembered locally in your browser.

Your controls

Under Settings → Preferences, you can hide your profile from Explore & Search, mute everyday like/comment notifications, and turn off team invites — at any time, with no explanation needed.

Deleting your account

Deleting your account from Settings permanently removes your posts, comments, startup, and profile — this can't be undone. We keep the anonymous feedback you give us when you leave (your reason for going, not tied back to your account) purely to make the platform better for the next person.
